Alcoa, Tennessee

Your list, about 11 minutes away.

The List Home Services is a Maryville handyman crew, and Alcoa is Maryville’s twin city to the north. From our Westfields base it is about 11 minutes, or 5.1 miles, by Sevierville Road and Hall Road, a short trip for the crew.

An Alcoa to-do list might run from a ceiling fan to hang and drywall to patch, to trim or porch posts to replace, a gutter to fix, a faucet or toilet to swap. Mitchell leads the crew and does the work.

Local notes

Knowing Alcoa, the company town

Alcoa began as a company town for the Aluminum Company of America and was first called North Maryville. It incorporated as Alcoa in 1919, and the 2020 census counted 10,978 residents. McGhee Tyson Airport is also in the Alcoa area.

The company planned four sections: Vose and Springbrook in the north, around today’s Springbrook Park, and Bassel and Hall in the south. About 700 houses stood by 1920, and the company began selling houses to employees in the early 1950s.

Many Alcoa streets are named for scientists and inventors: Bessemer, Joule, Edison, Darwin and Watt. The Little River flows through the eastern part of the city, and a 3-mile greenway from 1998 links Springbrook Park to Maryville’s Bicentennial Greenbelt Park.

What homes here need

What Alcoa’s older houses need

A lot of houses here are decades old, from the company-town era onward, so we plan for worn trim, soft porch posts, drywall cracks, and doors and windows that no longer close right. Carpentry, drywall and door work are common starting points.

Weather works on the outside too. Paint, gutters, soffit and fascia take rain and sun, and inside, an old light fixture or toilet may be due for replacement. We look at it, talk it through and price it before we start.
