Knowing Louisville, on the lake
Louisville, in Blount County, East Tennessee, was settled in the early 1800s and grew into a flatboat and steamboat port on the Tennessee River. It incorporated in 1851, and the 2020 census counted 4,384 residents living in the town today.
Its downtown became a National Register historic district in 1974, a nod to its river-port history. The town centers on the junction of Louisville Road (SR 334), which leads to Alcoa and Maryville, and SR 333, which leads to Friendsville.
Fort Loudoun Lake forms Louisville’s northern border, and about 13% of the town’s area is water. Middlesettlements Elementary is in town too. Our route from Westfields runs along US 411, Hall Road (SR 35) and then Louisville Road, about 9.8 miles.
