Local notes

Knowing Seymour, in two counties

Seymour is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in East Tennessee that spans both Sevier and Blount counties, with 14,705 residents counted in the 2020 census. It began as Newell’s Station in 1783 and was later known as Trundles Crossroads.

Trundles Crossroads was renamed for Charles Seymour, a railway engineer, after the Knoxville, Sevierville and Eastern Railway opened in 1909, and the name stuck. Seymour High School is here, and Bluff Mountain rises to the south of town.

Chapman Highway (US 441) runs through toward Knoxville, meeting US 411 and Boyds Creek Highway (SR 338) at a four-way intersection near the center. The land is rolling valley, where the Smokies’ foothills meet the Ridge-and-Valley. From Westfields, US 411 leads here.

What homes here need

Newer subdivisions, older farms

Seymour is a growing area, with a lot of newer subdivisions alongside older farm properties. Newer homes often want finishing touches: blinds, shelving, curtain rods and TV mounting, plus light fixtures, ceiling fans, paint, and LVP or tile flooring installation.

Older farm properties lean toward outdoor work: fences and gates, carpentry and wood repair, small concrete and drainage, pressure washing, and hauling away old materials. We look at the job, talk it through and price it before any work starts.
