Decks, Porches & Carpentry

Decks, done right.

A deck or porch is where a house meets the weather, so it takes more punishment than any other part. Soft boards, wobbly rails and tired stairs are easy to ignore until a step gives way.

The List Home Services builds new decks, porches and pergolas and repairs old ones. Mitchell leads the crew, and the carpentry underneath, from framing to posts to trim, is done by the same people.

The work

What we do

Decks, porches and pergolas: new construction, extensions, repairs, stairs, railings and staining. Our own photos show a pergola deck with a horizontal-slat privacy screen around a hot tub, built from posts set in the ground up.

Other photos show rebuilt back steps with white vinyl railings, a deck with dark railings and balusters, a front landing at a door and a cabin porch. Carpentry covers framing, trim, molding, porch posts and damaged wood replacement.

Why it matters here

Humidity, rain and wood rot

East Tennessee weather soaks wood, dries it and soaks it again. Rot usually starts where water sits: the ends of boards, the top of a post, the joint where a deck meets the house wall.

Older porches in Maryville and Friendsville often need a post or a run of rail replaced before they need anything else. Catching that early keeps the repair small and keeps the porch in use, instead of leading to a full rebuild.

The process

How the job runs

Call or text, and we come look at the deck, the porch or the spot where one should go. We talk through size, railings and stain, and put a price on it before any work starts.

The crew sets posts and frames with care, keeps the site picked up, and finishes with stairs, railings and stain. Then we walk it with you and check every step and every railing together before we call it done.

Questions

Straight answers.

Anything else, call or text (865) 210-1382.

Can you repair part of a deck instead of rebuilding it?

Often, yes. We check the framing, posts and boards, then tell you what can stay and what needs replacing. Damaged wood replacement is regular work for us, and sometimes a repair is all the deck needs.

Do you stain the deck once it is built or repaired?

Yes, staining is part of our deck work. New and repaired wood often needs time to dry before stain goes on, so we talk through the sequence and the stain choice when we price the job.

Can you add stairs or railings to a deck that is already up?

Yes. Stairs and railings are part of our deck and porch work, whether that means a new set of steps or replacing rails that have gone loose. We check that the framing can carry them first.
